“Your business is not complicated. You're making it complicated.” —Joey Mazza
Hi, I’m Joey Mazza, business management coach and owner of The Pennyworth Group, a business and executive consulting company based in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania and serving clients throughout the United States.
I help service-based business owners and professionals cut through the overwhelm and confusion. As a result, they’re able to be more efficient, effective, and productive in their careers.
I’m straight up and honest from the beginning. I don’t sugarcoat things. But my clients get results, and they thank me for it.
A lot of business owners out there are frustrated. They don’t know where to go and they don’t want to waste their money on coaching that’s expensive and doesn’t work. I get it. And that’s a big part of what got me started doing what I do today.
When my clients hire me, I make sure they’re 100% invested in the process and they know the value of working with me. It’s going to be worth their time and money.
My wife and I started our own successful commercial and residential cleaning business seventeen years ago. I funded that business by delivering newspapers in the early hours of the morning. I also worked in the food and beverage industry and have a degree in hotel restaurant and institutional management from Penn State University.
Through the cleaning business, I learned how to start a company from nothing, grow it, network and build relationships, get involved in the community, and keep the phone ringing.
While I was running the cleaning business, I’d hear a lot of the same complaints from business owners I knew and worked with. So I started making suggestions. They’d try them out and come back to me and tell me they applied my advice and it solved their problem. After this happened a bunch of times, I realized I had been coaching people all my life and I liked the idea of doing it full-time for a living.
This is the biggest reason you need a coach and advisor. Otherwise, you get in a rut and don’t have someone to push you. Having someone to answer to about where you want to go in life and business is huge.
Coming from the cleaning industry, the relationship you have with your clients is a big deal. When you’re going into people’s homes, they’re giving you a huge amount of trust and I have never taken that lightly.
I challenge everyone differently. Each person is unique and has different needs, so I get a feel for their personality. It’s also important that everyone feels comfortable to be themselves while running their business. We all need to have fun and express ourselves, even while we’re working and I show them how to rediscover that part of themselves.
Many other business coaches convince people to work with them on a long term basis. I’m more concerned about helping my clients solve a problem and accomplish their goals quickly. I’m happy to help my clients wherever they’re at, but I also don’t believe it’s ethical to take their money if we can get things done quickly with good results. They can always come back to me for help with their goals in the future if they need to.
I like seeing people happy doing what they do. That moment when you know you’re exactly where you need to be with your business, it’s probably one of the best feelings you can have. I’ve been there and I know that feeling.
A lot of people say they’re busy. I’m busy and the world is busy. I remind people to do what they said they're going to do.
I won’t ask you to walk on fire or jump out of perfectly good aircraft. My goal is to help you reach your goals.
